When people reach for this tool

Switch a format a site refuses

Some CMS fields and marketplaces only accept one type. Converting in the browser avoids installing anything or signing up for a converter.

Move old pictures to a lighter format

WebP usually cuts file size noticeably against JPG at similar visible quality, which directly reduces page weight.

Open a file your software will not read

Some design tools still skip newer formats. Converting to JPG or PNG first is quicker than hunting for a plugin.

Practical tips

  • Converting a lossy format to another lossy format loses quality twice. Start from the highest-quality version you have whenever you can.
  • Text and line art survive PNG far better than JPG. When in doubt, keep flat graphics as PNG and photographs as JPG or WebP.

What you get

  • JPG → PNG → WebP in any direction
  • Transparent PNGs can be flattened to JPG
  • Quality control for lossy formats
  • Download with the correct file extension
  • Runs entirely in the browser

Image Converter — FAQ

Can I convert a WebP to JPG?
Yes. Pick JPG as the target format. Transparent areas will be filled with white.
Why is the quality slider disabled for PNG?
PNG is lossless, so the slider is only used for JPG and WebP output.
Which format should I choose?
JPG suits photographs, PNG suits anything with sharp edges, flat colour or transparency, and WebP suits photographs that need the smallest possible file on a modern site.
Is the original file changed?
No. The file on your device is only read. You get a new downloaded file alongside it, so you can always go back to the source.
