Password Generator

Create strong, random passwords with a live strength meter. Pick the length and character sets, exclude ambiguous characters, and copy or download the result in one click. Built on the Web Crypto API, right in your browser.

Runs on your device — nothing uploadedNo sign-up or limitUpdated October 2026

Uses the browser’s secure random source (Web Crypto API) — your password is never stored or sent anywhere.

Tip: aim for 14+ characters with mixed classes and never reuse a password — the meter estimates entropy: strong ≈ 70+ bits.

About the Password Generator

Create strong, random passwords with a live strength meter. Pick the length and character sets, exclude ambiguous characters, and copy or download the result in one click. Built on the Web Crypto API, right in your browser.

Passwords are generated locally with the browser’s secure random generator and never leave your device.

How to use the Password Generator

  1. Step 1Choose the length and which character classes must appear.
  2. Step 2Toggle “No ambiguous” to drop look-alike characters such as I, l, 1, O and 0.

When people reach for this tool

Create a password nobody else would guess

A generated password removes the predictable choices that make a guessable password weak.

Replace the reused password on a key account

If one password appears on several sites, one breach exposes all of them.

Hand over a one-off secret securely

A chat message with a generated value is safer than one you typed yourself and might reconstruct later.

Practical tips

  • Longer beats complicated. Sixteen characters of mixed sets is easier to remember than eight with symbols you will mistype.
  • Excluding ambiguous characters such as zero and one saves a genuine amount of retyping in practice.

What you get

  • Crypto-secure randomness via the Web Crypto API
  • Length from 6 to 64 characters
  • Guarantees at least one character from every chosen set
  • Live strength gauge
  • One-click copy and download

Password Generator — FAQ

Is my password stored anywhere?
No. It is produced in your browser with crypto.getRandomValues, shown only on your screen, and discarded when you leave the page.
What does “no ambiguous” do?
It removes characters that are easy to confuse like I, l, 1, O, 0 and o — useful when a password must be typed by hand.
How are the passwords generated?
From your browser’s cryptographic random source, which is designed for exactly this and is far better suited than a basic random function.
Where are the passwords stored?
Nowhere. They exist in the page until you reload or close it. Nothing is sent anywhere, so keep a copy before you leave.
How long should a password be?
Longer is the single biggest improvement. Sixteen characters is a reasonable floor for an account tied to something you care about; a passphrase you can actually remember beats a short random string you will have to write down.
