When people reach for this tool
Create a CSS gradient without hand-writing angles
Adjusting the direction by dragging is faster than working out the angle value.
Reproduce an existing gradient approximately
Two or three stops are usually enough to get close to what you see.
See how a palette behaves across a gradient
Intermediary colours often look wrong in isolation but right blended.
Practical tips
- Add a middle stop before adding more colours. Three stops usually read better than five.
- Always test a gradient behind text. A gradient behind a long paragraph needs a flat colour behind the text for legibility.
What you get
- Live results while you type
- Runs entirely in your browser
- Copy and download with one click
Gradient Generator — FAQ
Can I use this in Tailwind or React?
Yes — the generated linear-gradient() is plain CSS and works anywhere.
What does the angle value mean?
Zero degrees points upward and the gradient runs in that direction. Ninety degrees produces the familiar left-to-right gradient.
Are all browsers consistent?
Current browsers agree on linear gradients. The differences that used to exist were in the syntax, so use the modern form.
