Word Counter — FAQ
What counts as a word?
A word is a sequence of letters or digits separated by spaces or punctuation — matching how editors usually count.
How is reading time calculated?
Words ÷ 225 words per minute, rounded up to a sensible value. Empty text shows “<1 min”.
Does every word count as one?
Words are separated on whitespace and punctuation, so hyphenated terms and numbers count once each. Sentence counts are approximate for the same reason.
