A comparison between two or more quantities, usually written with a colon or a slash. It describes relative size, not an absolute amount.
How do I split an amount by a ratio?
Divide the amount by the total of the ratio parts, then multiply by each part in turn. Each share is the total multiplied by its fraction of the sum.
