Quoted fields with commas, quotes and line breaks inside are handled correctly. Auto-detect counts the most common delimiter in the first rows.

  3. Step 3Press <strong>Convert</strong>, check the preview table, then copy or download the JSON.

When people reach for this tool

Turn a spreadsheet export into request-ready JSON

Systems that expect objects rather than rows of text usually want JSON.

Reformat data that came from another tool

Exports are almost always CSV because it is simple to produce; the destination is rarely so forgiving.

See how columns become keys

A quick conversion shows whether the header row lines up with the fields the destination expects.

Practical tips

  • The delimiter is detected from the data, so exports using semicolons or tabs work without configuration.
  • Check the first row becomes the keys. A stray title line above the header produces a wrong first key instead of an error.

What you get

  • Smart delimiter auto-detection
  • First-row-as-header optional
  • Handles quoted fields with commas, quotes and newlines
  • Live table preview of parsed rows
  • Copy or download the JSON

CSV to JSON — FAQ

What does header or data mean?
If the first row is a header, each JSON object uses those column names as keys. If not, the result is an array of arrays, one per row.
Why does my column count look wrong?
Rows with fewer or more fields than the others usually indicate an unquoted field that contains the delimiter, or trailing commas. Check the preview table to spot it.
How are the JSON keys chosen?
From the first row of the file, which is treated as the header. If the keys look wrong, the export has a title line above the real header.
What happens to empty cells?
An empty cell is represented as an empty string rather than being dropped, so every row keeps the same set of keys.
